Reality Bites

“Reality” the word itself makes you want to think, is this for real?

When you have a bad day at work thinking how exactly you could have dealt with your interfering colleague or rather what politics can you now play to be the cherry pie in your bosses eye. Well, you need not think too much but just sit back and watch a few stupid reality show on television. You don’t even need to scan your channels to look for them, as they’re all over the place.

Our television viewers have been fooled by the word “Reality Show”. To name a few, there’s MTV Roadies (Gosshhh! don’t even know why they featured this show on television). They show a bunch of youngsters who take so much non sense just to get selected for this show. Ohh! not to forget the bald judge “Raghu” who thinks he’s the next BIG thing around, who has all the rights in this world to insult or humiliate his contestants. And not to forget VJ Nikhil Chinnapa! who tries his luck to be different but unfortunately he’s lost the skills of entertaining his viewers.

I think MTV producers need to sit back and think of how much they’re torturing us. They finish with one god forsaken show and start another. Lately, they came up with MTV Splitsville! Tagging it as the best looking models and two handsome (Give me a break MTV) guys all alone in a ville in Goa. Supposedly, a dating show but it looks more like a faking show. The girls bitch, back stab and do what ever it takes to get their a$$ saved from the dumping zone. No offense to the girls but are you really serious?? do you think the two guys are even worth trying your luck? Coming back to the producers of this show, they are clueless on the rules they have set for the show. It keeps changing for every episode and it’s more like if the producers like your face your a$$ is saved regardless of all attempts or the strategies you’ve accomplished. So, MTV has really turned me off these days.

Lets check the ultimate Indian channels Sony, Zee and Star TV! So much to do in this competitive world I mussay! Every channel wants to compete with each other with music and other talent shows but if you see the judges ain’t judging your talent here. Well, at least that’s what I seen in a few shows. The judges not only appreciate your talent but they humiliate you and make you feel wasted. You’ll want to ask your self in the first place, why did you even want to participate for the show. I think it’s become a latest trend to be the meanest judge. Media then hypes the show in all the news channels. I think thats a very nice way of getting PR for your show. You pass some ridiculous remarks at your contestant and it becomes news. Ohh! and you find people talking about it in local transports too. (Come on people, do you think this is for real?).

Now there’s just another reality show that’s supposed to be a BIG hit, It’s called Big Boss 2! Give me a break man, I still couldn’t recover from the damage that they did to mind in the first part. I some time wonder, why did I even have a glimpse of the show. A show that has flop actors, unsuccessful models and ruthless politicians (Like I even want to peek in your private lives). Anyways, it’s up to you if you like watching these shows but I can only tell you, it’s a waste of time and electricity. I suggest you watch Cartoon Network. At least those animated characters do a better job to entertain you.

  1. reality tv came along because the actors on many of the series started asking for to much money. In the old days, 70,s 80,s early 90,s, there used to be new episodes from sept thru may, then the rereuns would start and in sept new episodes started again. Nowdays, you get 5 or 6 new episodes and the rest of the time its reruns. All because the producers cant pay the stars what they want per episode. Used to be reruns were called reruns, now its a “marathon”. Used to be you didnt have to advertise” oh look a new episode”. Reality came along cause you didnt have to pay these people anything. Now the reality shows have become to familiar and they all have the same cast, the bitch, the nerd, the gay guy, the buff guy, the cheerleader chick. THey all know there parts and are no acting instead of being “real” The reality starts 15 minutes of fame last years, what does that say about mericans? TV has gone to hell in a hand basket and themovies are following suit, straight to dvd, soon there wont be any movies made for theaters, just dvd. Thats what we have brought on ourselvs.

  2. also tv may soon be all reality based, even though its not real, you dont have to pay those people, they are in it for the attention.. There are no more real movie stars, like john wayne, james stewart, liz taylor, katherine hepburn, now actors are just celebrities. I used to love movies but now have no respect for the actors anymore. They win an oscar and are never heard from again, no one excpet tom hanks and hillary swank have been consistent in winning an oscar. they are the only ones to win two in the last several years.
Better start putting out some good shit hollywood, you tv actors too, or you will all be cancelled and the public will just start watcing dvds.

  3. I agree with you. Even I am bored of these reality shows because it brings out negativity in people. I also agree the new trend to become a meanest judge for publicity.
